BLACKLAND RECIPE
Chili Crisp Hot Honey
Honey and Original Chili Crisp make a mild sweet-savory finishing sauce. Stir, warm just enough to pour, and drizzle over pizza, biscuits, or roasted vegetables.
About 5/8 cup (10 tablespoons); 10 servings of 1 tablespoon. Yield is approximate before optional thinning or variations.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (170 g) honey
- 2 tablespoons BLACKLAND Original Chili Crisp
- 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, optional
Instructions
- Stir the chili crisp in its jar to distribute the oil and solids. Stir the full 2 tablespoons into the honey in a small microwave-safe bowl.
- If needed for pouring, microwave at 50% power for 10 seconds, stir, and repeat once. Alternatively, warm in a small saucepan over the lowest heat for up to 1 minute, just until the honey loosens. Do not simmer or fry the chili-crisp solids; skip warming if the honey already pours easily.
- Stir in the optional 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar for a small acidic lift. The sauce should flow in a thin amber ribbon with visible crisp particles, rather than behave like a creamy dip.
- Stir again immediately before drizzling so each spoonful includes both honey and chili crisp. Some oil separation and settling are expected.
Serving Suggestions
These are serving ideas; accompaniments are prepared separately and are not included in the sauce yield or timing.
- Drizzle over a cooked pizza slice.
- Spoon a little onto a split biscuit.
- Finish prepared fried chicken just before serving.
- Drizzle over roasted carrots or other vegetables.
Optional Variations
- For a slightly sharper finish, add the optional 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar; do not add a large splash that makes the honey watery.
- For a milder finish, use 1 tablespoon chili crisp instead of 2. Yield falls to about 9 tablespoons, giving nine 1-tablespoon portions.
Storage & Make-Ahead
Make the amount you expect to use and refrigerate any remainder in a clean covered container at 40°F (4°C) or below for up to 3 days. This prepared mixture has not been validated for pantry storage, canning, or long-term keeping.
The honey will thicken when chilled. Warm only the serving portion in the short bursts described above, then stir well. Oil can separate and solids can settle or soften; neither permanent suspension nor lasting crunch is expected. Refrigerate within 2 hours, or within 1 hour above 90°F (32°C).
Contains honey and is not vegan. Biscuits, pizza, and fried chicken are serving suggestions and may add milk, egg, wheat, or other allergens.
Original Chili Crisp brings savory depth and a mild chile accent to honey; this is a kitchen recipe, not a separate Blackland product.
