BLACKLAND RECIPE

Original Chili Crisp Sesame Chicken Lettuce Cups

Cool, crisp lettuce leaves hold savory sesame chicken, cucumber, and scallions in a fast dinner that feels fresh but substantial. BLACKLAND Original Chili Crisp joins the skillet near the end, coating the chicken without dulling its crunch. The mild filling and assemble-at-the-table format keep these cups distinct from a rice bowl while making weeknight serving simple.

Four crisp butter lettuce cups filled with savory glazed sesame chicken, garnished with finely diced cucumber, scallions, and sesame seeds.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head butter lettuce
  • 1 small Persian cucumber, finely diced
  • 3 scallions, thinly sliced, white and green parts separated
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil or another neutral high-heat oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 teaspoons finely grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons BLACKLAND Original Chili Crisp, divided
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Separate 12 sturdy lettuce leaves, rinse, and dry them thoroughly. Arrange on a platter. Stir the cucumber together with the scallion greens and set aside.
  2. Heat the avocado oil or another neutral high-heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Add the chicken and cook, breaking it into small pieces, until lightly browned and cooked through, 6 to 8 minutes.
  3. Add the scallion whites and ginger and cook for 1 minute. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and 2 tablespoons Original Chili Crisp. Cook until the liquid lightly glazes the chicken, 1 to 2 minutes, then remove from the heat.
  4. Spoon the chicken into the lettuce leaves. Top with the cucumber mixture, sesame seeds, and the remaining Original Chili Crisp.

Serving and finishing note

Set out the lettuce, filling, and toppings separately for easy assembly. Keep the cucumber cold and add the final chili crisp just before eating for contrast and crunch.
